Elmot of Ani-Mo!!!

Scene: Early morning somewhere in Cavite. A young warrior wakes up and staggers into the bathroom.

Elmot as a modern day warrior looks fierce. He’s psyching himself up. He intones loudly, “I am good. I am handsome. I am doing great. I am rich. Today is a beautiful day!”

He’s just facing the bathroom mirror, psyching himself up to conquer the world or the blogosphere – but first he must take a shower. His neighbors are used to by now to his loud early morning mantra of self-affirmation. His loud cries early in the morning don’t make their skin crawl anymore. No, he’s not crazy. He’s just being Elmot.

That’s irrepressible Elmot in his wonderful post on self-affirmation. Says he-

…man is still man who has the power to transcend and hold himself above all…cultural chains. Start saying “I am beautiful. I am good. I am happy. I am successful.” Paulo Coelho says that whatever you tell and command the world through your speech, the whole cosmos will conspire for your passion to be affirmed and completed.

Here’s the latest about Elmot. This young uber blogger’s dream of moving into self-hosted WordPress blog will become a reality later this week. That’s the power of self-affirmation.

But before we think of the many wonderful ways Elmot can dominate the blogosphere with his WP blog, let us first honor Elmot. This guy dominated my top commentator contest last month handily. That’s already twice this year, guys. For his feat, Elmot will receive P500 worth of airtime credits for his mobile phone. I thought he’d pick 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Just as well – Jena Isle will be pleased to have the book that Elmot passed up. Third place finisher is Roy. He’d get P300 worth of mobile airtime credits.

@You know how it is with nicknames. Must be the priests in the seminary 0r the senior students who coined the name Elmot. And being the creative guy that he is, Gerson added Lumot to Elmot so it became Elmot Lumot. Great huh? It even rhymes! Great alliteration.

@Jena: I love to tease Elmot. He's unflappable kasi. Di napipikon. I remember the time I tore at his post. Wala lang. Masama lang siguro gising ko nung araw na iyon.

Elmot was very insufferably courteous to me. I know I hurt him with my remarks, but he did not let it fester like a bad wound. He went out of his way to answer me like a gentleman that he is.

Could have made that episode as the unique angle for this post. Kaya lang masyadong madrama un story na yun. Mas masaya ito - hini hypnotize ni Elmot sarili nya sa mirror. Buti na lang di honest un mirror nya sa Cavite. Feeling ko lang. Alam ko namang walang mag aagree sa akin dito. Nahypnotize na rin sila ni Elmot Lumot. Ahahaha

@Jena: It happened when we really are clicking well na - friends na talaga. That's the difference. I spoke my mind - without reservation. He respected my opinion, but did not agree with me. Tabla ang resulta. It was his post about POWs, specifically on Abu Graib.

It's his defining moment for me. I realize that there's more to this impish blogger than good looks (o hayan ha, Elms) and easy conversations. He's mature and levelheaded - more than he lets on.

Intimidating ako? Susmaryosep. Why kaya... Oh, sometimes it takes me a while to warm up to another person. Akala ko foreigner ka nun. Ahahaha. And you talked about Entrecards then. So initially I thought I had nothing in common with you. And you were only visiting rarely then. It never crossed my mind you have a lot of things on your plate.

Onomatopoeia makes a blog post come alive. We all can use it. There's just some expressions I hesitate to touch.

For example, I can't imagine Elmot intoning, “I am good. Woot! I am handsome. Woot! I am doing great. I am rich. Today is a beautiful day! Woot!”

Ridiculous, right? It just ruins the spell. Of course, I'm okay with Doc Z learning the layered subtleties of 'Woot!" It just proves our in-house poet is just your regular fun guy. Very likable fellow - not different from you and me. I just pray it doesn't insinuate itself in his blog.

If that happens, this summarizes how I'd feel: Argh.
